Last week Te Ngahere made our term 3 writing goals. Our WALT for this was we are learning to identify our writing goals. We had to go to the writing toolkit and find what rubric we are. I need to learn rubric 6 for organization and rubric 5 for sentence structure. Then we had to check last terms goals and see what we had not learned. I am getting really good at using my semicolons and metaphors, next term I think I will have accomplished them.

Magic Marvelous Maths Goals
Last week Te Ngahere made our new term three maths goals. Our WALT was to identify what we have achieved in maths and our next learning steps. First of all we had to fill in our IKAN sheets. My sheet was a stage 6. Then we had to choose 3 goals that we said we needed to learn from the Multiplication and Division section on the strategy side. After the teachers checked the slide we had to put them on, we were allowed to make a google drawing to show our goals as you can see.

My Magical Lovely Learning
On Wednesday it was Student Led Conferences. We had to make a google drawing called my learning. On this google drawing it shows our learning. It has links to some of our work this term. My Student Led Conference was at 3:00 pm. My mum came and sat down so I could tell her about my learning this term. In am above in writing, reading and maths in the National standards. I enjoyed the Student Led Conferences much more because all the other times when it was a parent teacher interview my mum never let me come in.

Matariki Fantastic Whanau Day
Last week on Thursday it was Paihia Schools Matariki celebration day. Some of the kids from school went down to the beach to see the stars and then came to school at 7 am for breakfast. Then when school started Te Ngahere (my class) did our artwork about our family using koru and kowhaiwhai patterns. Later at lunch the whole of Paihia School had a shared lunch on the deck by the Whare. The juniors went first and we were allowed to have 2 things each and then when we were done we could come back for 2nds. After lunch we played games with a man called Harko Brown. We played Maui and Matou (left and right) and we threw these poi things to a partner or two. Later on we planted some Ti Kouka (cabbage trees), Reinga Lily’s and lots more. I planted about five trees. This was the best day ever I can’t wait to see what the trees look like in years to come.

Matariki at the Treaty Grounds
Last week on Tuesday Paihia School went to the Treaty Grounds to celebrate Matariki (the maori new year). At the Treaty Grounds we were put in groups, I was in group 3 and we planted our plants first. We had to pair up and I was with Tarjon. We planted a Manuka. After we made kites I made mine with Tessa and we had so much fun. After making the kites we had a throwing competition. We did not win but it was still a lot of fun. Later we played a game called Maui and Matou. We had two rounds of it, Astin and Chevy-Lee won. I am glad we do this every year because I it is the best day of school in the whole.😀😃

A few weeks ago we had to write a persuasive when we had done we made some art. . . fidget spinner art our WALT was to use space, crayon and dye. First we had to draw lightly with pencil and use up the space on the paper. Then we had to colour it in with crayon and press hard on the paper but leaving some white spaces for the dye. Ice Cream Making
A few weeks ago we made ice cream because Te Ngahere (my class) finished our learning plans in ten minutes. We had to do some reading on how to make ice cream. Our WALT was to answer inference questions. After we had made ice cream we had to make a recount about it and our experience my WALT was we are learning to use metaphors, which I highlighted in my writing. I thought I was fun even though I didn’t like the ice cream the experience was awesome.
