Learning with Libby Bowles

On Monday Te Ngahere had a visit from a woman named Libby Bowles. She talked to us about animals in the ocean such as; leather-back turtles, whale sharks and manta rays. She also talked to us about plastics and the amount she has seen in the ocean. She even talked to us about her travels on her bike and how she made it. I enjoyed learning with Libby Bowles and I hope she comes back to Paihia School some time.

Christmas Comp Art

Last week in Te Ngahere we made some art for the Christmas art competition. In this competition we are in to win a viewing of the NEW Kiwi Christmas movie. In this art we had to show what a Xmas in New Zealand means to us. Our WALT for this is to use  a variety of kiwiana Christmas designs to create a four frame piece of artwork representing what Christmas means to you in NZ. I had a LOT of fun making it and I hope my AMAZING one wins.

Creative Writing

A few weeks ago Te Ngahere did a creative piece. Our writing was based on reduce, reuse and recycling. In my writing I used original idea’s, alliteration and onomatopoeia. My WALT was to make my idea’s original and I think that I did make my idea’s original. But next time I need to work on more alliteration and similes because it did not use them

William Pike

Last week on Friday all of Te Ngahere were doing activities based on a man called William Pike. We also watched a webinar about him. He told us about climbing Mt. Scott and a lot of other things too. We made a google drawing with our answers to some questions that had been set up for us. Two of the questions were related to a story we read earlier in the year. I enjoyed it and wish to do it again. Here is my drawing.
